Bare knuckle | Gloved

Rules of the sport

Bare knuckle and gloved run to different rules. Both are refereed, both are medically supervised, and both end the second a fighter cannot defend himself.

Red corner

Bare knuckle

Fought with hands wrapped to the wrist only. No padding over the knuckle.

Rounds and round length are set per bout and confirmed at the rules meeting on the day.

Cuts are assessed by the ringside doctor, whose decision is final and cannot be overruled by a corner.

A bout ends on knockout, technical stoppage, corner retirement, doctor stoppage, or the judges' cards.

Blue corner

Gloved

Fought in gloves at the weight agreed for the division.

Standard three knockdown rule applies unless waived at the rules meeting.

Scoring is ten point must, three judges, announced after the final bell.

Gloved and bare knuckle are ranked on separate ladders.
